Inspect first. Treat second.

Delaware pest control — termites, ants, rodents and wildlife across New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties

The treatment is decided after the inspection, not before it. Somebody walks your property, identifies what is actually there, and picks the method that works on that species. That is the whole difference.

01 The method

Four steps, no mystery

Integrated pest management, in practice, means the treatment is decided after the inspection rather than before it. Here is the order that happens in.

  1. A technician’s hands pressing a moisture meter into a painted window sill, checking for damp behind the paint.

    1 · Inspect

Somebody comes out and looks — inside, outside, and at the places the activity is actually coming from — before anything is applied.

  2. A technician under a house with a headlamp, examining the underside of a floor joist for damage.

    2 · Identify

Not every ant is treated the same. The species decides the method, so we name it before we choose one.

  3. A technician kneeling at the base of a brick wall, opening a rodent bait station to check inside.

    3 · Treat

Termites, ants, rodents, mosquitoes, ticks and wildlife each need a different method, so they are run as different programs rather than one spray that claims to cover everything.

  4. A technician standing on a driveway, writing up findings on a clipboard after the visit.

    4 · Monitor

Sealing is what keeps them out — so the work does not end when the activity does.

02 The scene

Five places we look first

Most of what turns up inside a house got in from outside it. These are the five points a technician works before anything is applied — and what is found at them is what decides the treatment.

A cutaway drawing of a house with the exterior wall sectioned open to show the framing behind the siding, and a technician standing at the right shining a flashlight across it.

Five points a technician checks outside a house

  1. Soffit line
  2. Window seals
  3. Siding
  4. Sill plate
  5. Soil line

04 Programs

What we handle

Nine programs, each one run on the pest it is for.

  • General Pest Control

Scheduled interior and exterior service for ants, spiders, roaches and the seasonal pests common in Delaware homes.

  • Mosquito Control

Seasonal yard treatment that targets resting sites and standing water, not just the mosquitoes in flight.

  • Termite Control

Inspection, liquid soil treatment and monitoring for the subterranean termites that dominate Delaware structures. Termites work from the soil up.

  • WDI Reports

The NPMA-33 wood-destroying insect report that lenders ask for before a Delaware closing, for buyers, sellers and agents.

  • Rodent Control

Exclusion-first work on mice and rats: find the entry points, close them, then remove the population.

  • Bed Bug Treatment

Inspection-led bed bug work with preparation guidance, targeted treatment and mandatory follow-up visits.

  • Tick Control

Perimeter and edge-habitat treatment aimed at blacklegged ticks, the Lyme vector active across Delaware.

  • Wildlife Removal

Humane removal and exclusion for squirrels, raccoons, groundhogs and other nuisance wildlife in and around structures.

  • Commercial Pest Control

Documented, scheduled programs for restaurants, retail, offices, warehouses and multi-unit properties.

Three of them, as written.

“We told the tech from The Bug Guy about the ant problem we were having. I noted the thoughtfulness of the tech as well as the thoroughness with which she went about her work. She took her time and carefully applied the ant spray, both indoors and outdoors — there was no odor afterwards like you get from sprays purchased at the store and we haven't seen an ant since the tech left.”

07 Questions

Questions we get asked

Do you inspect before you treat?

Yes, and that is the whole method. Integrated pest management, in practice, means the treatment is decided after the inspection rather than before it. Nobody prices a plan for your house before somebody has looked at your house.

Do you cover my town?

We work all three Delaware counties — New Castle, Kent and Sussex — and 35 towns are named on this page. That list is a service radius, not a wall. If yours is not on it, ask.

What pests do you handle?

Nine programs: general pest control, mosquitoes, termites, WDI reports, rodents, bed bugs, ticks, wildlife and commercial work. Termites, ants, rodents, mosquitoes, ticks and wildlife each need a different method, so they are run as different programs rather than one spray that claims to cover everything.

Can you do a WDI report for a house sale?

Yes. The NPMA-33 wood-destroying insect report that lenders ask for before a Delaware closing is one of the nine programs, for buyers, sellers and agents.

How long have you been working in Delaware?

The Bug Guy has been on pest patrol across Delaware since 2012.

Is it safe around kids and pets?

The work is targeted rather than blanket-sprayed. The species is identified first, and the application uses minimal-impact products aimed at where the activity actually is. One customer put it this way after an ant treatment: “She took her time and carefully applied the ant spray, both indoors and outdoors — there was no odor afterwards like you get from sprays purchased at the store.” If anyone in the house has a specific sensitivity, say so when you request the quote, before anybody comes out.

How fast can somebody come out?

It depends on the job — a WDI report before a closing and a wasp nest by the back door are not the same piece of work. The fastest route is always the phone: 302-242-5254. If you use the form instead, put your town and what you are seeing in it, because that is what lets the office answer you with something useful rather than a callback to ask.

What does it cost?

The quote is free, and the price follows the inspection rather than the other way round — nobody prices a plan for your house before somebody has looked at your house. A termite treatment, a one-off wildlife exclusion and a scheduled general-pest program are different pieces of work at different prices, so ask for the quote and you will get a number for the work you actually need.

Something is living in my attic. Is that you?

Yes — squirrels, raccoons and groundhogs, removed humanely. Then the way in gets sealed, because sealing is what keeps them out.
